BETTER BONES / BETTER BALANCE Program
Did you know that...
Osteoporotic patients are typically treated with medications and instruction in exercises? Falls in this patient population can result in fractures, disability, and an increased risk of mortality.
Our physical therapy clinics now offer a Better Bones/Better Balance program for patients with osteoporosis which includes the following:
- Fall risk assessment utilizing computerized balance testing
- Treatment in balance retaining exercises
- Treatment with resistive exercises
- Treatment with weight bearing exercises
At the conclusion of our Better Bones/Better Balance program, patients will be able to
- Independently perform appropriate weight bearing exercises
- Understand the risks of falling and perform balance exercises in a safe manner
By 2020, it is estimated that 50% of Americans older than 50 will be at risk for fractures from Osteoporosis.
