Kevin J. Nellis, P.T.

Kevin Nellis is co-owner of Physical Therapy Plus. He received his B.S. in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College in 1983. He is a member of the McKenzie Institute, USA. His practice focuses on orthopedic and industrial management. He has had extensive training in the treatment of spinal injuries.
Kevin's experience includes extensive training in ergonomics, including job site analysis and ergonomics education for both seated and non-seated work stations. He is certified to perform both the Blankenship and Key Method of functional capacity evaluation. Kevin is also an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association. |
Craig Peterson, P.T.
Pine Street Office
Craig is co-owner of Physical Therapy Plus. He received his bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy and a bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Ithaca College in 1983. He has advanced his education with course work in the McKenzie protocol for spinal disorders, ergonomic assessment/intervention, and functional capacity evaluations.
Craig has successfully treated and managed a large variety of physical disorders including patients suffering from orthopedic, neurological, and burn pathologies. He frequently provides presentations to industry which focus on strategies to identify and control risk factors that contribute to musculoskeletal injuries. |
"Mic" Hlywa, MS, PTATC
Baldwinsville Office Mic Hlywa, MS, PT, ATC. has been working with Physical Therapy Plus since 1996 and heads our Baldwinsville office as manager and senior clinician. He holds a BS degree in Athletic Training and Psychology from Wilmington College in Ohio ('87) where he was awarded the Most Outstanding Male Athletic Training Student. He then earned an MS degree in Health and Athletic Training from Marshall University ('89) where his two-year Graduate Assistant assignments included being the head athletic trainer at Huntington High School and the following year working with the Marshall University football program as an athletic trainer. In 1993 he received his Physical Therapy degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse.
Professionally, he has specialized in treating athletic injuries both pre-and post-operatively and job related acute and repetitive injury pathologies. His areas of expertise include: spinal pain, repetitive stress injuries, postural dysfunction, joint replacement, and rotator cuff and ACL injuries. These skills have allowed him to treat all age groups and types of patients including those injured in the workplace to professional athletes. He has taken extensive coursework since graduation that includes the McKenzie spinal program, orthopedic manual skills assessments and treatment techniques in addition to being committed to the most updated research regarding present surgical techniques and evidence based treatment trends |
Steve Nellis, PT, ATC
Canastota Office Steve Nellis is the managing Physical Therapist at the Canastota office with many years experience in the field of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1987 and became a licensed physical therapist in 1997 with a degree from Utica College of Syracuse University. Steve is also certified as an Athletic Trainer by the state of New York.
Steve's experience includes eight years as the assistant trainer for the University of San Diego and two years as an assistant trainer for the 1988 USA Olympic Volleyball Teams. He was the Head Medical Coordinator for the 1987 World Police and Fire Games. Steve has served as ATC for Utica College of Syracuse University, SUNY School of Technology at Utica-Rome, and the Mohawk Valley Community College hockey team.
Steve often provides presentations to professional organizations on a variety of Sports Medicine topics. |
John Jablonka, PT
John received his B.S. Biology degree from Niagara University in 1976 and Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University Medical School in 1978.
He has practiced in a variety of clinical and academic settings including the University of Washington, Seattle; SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse; and several private out-patient physical therapy offices. His experiences include spinal cord rehabilitation, multi-disciplinary pain management clinics, hospital-based orthopedic treatment, and a wide variety of out-patient orthopedic therapy.
His recent experiences include a clinical instructor position at the SUNY Physical Therapy School, development of an in-house exercise program for dialysis patients, certification in the Key Method of Functional Capacity Assessments, and treatment experience with a wide variety of industrial injuries, motor vehicle injuries, and recreational sports injuries.
John's post-professional education has included various methods of approaching spinal and extremity joint derangement and dysfunction. These include the Cyriax, Maitland, McKenzie, and Mulligan methods of management. |
Beth Colbert, OTR,CHT
Pine Street Office
Beth received her B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1983. She became a Certified Hand Therapist in 1991.
She has worked in a variety of settings including rehabilitation, pediatric, and hospital settings, but with the preferred focus in out-patient hand rehabilitation.
Beth has extensive continuing education in wound care, splint fabrication, and clinical management of orthopedic upper extremity injuries. |

Jessica received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College. Jessica brings experience with emphasis on musculoskeletal and neurological disorders, joint disease, sport injuries, post operative care and chronic pain. She also has experience with sports related, non-operative rehabilitation techniques. |
Amy Papelino, DPT

Amy received her Docorate in Physical Therapy from Utica College.
Amy has clinical experience in both outpatient and inpatient facilities as well as industrial rehabilitation experience.

Tracey Fitzgerald, PT, CKTP
Canastota Office
Tracy received her Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Nazareth College of Rochester.
Prior to joining Pysical Therapy Plus, Tracey worked in acute care and outpatient settins at Rome Memorial Hospital. Her focus was on neurological and orthopedic patients/treatments. In addition, she was involved in establishing a total knee and hip treatment protocol.
Tracey is also a Certified Kinesio Taping Practicioner. This treatment technique was evident recently at the 2008 Bejing Olumpics where many athletes displayed the unique taping associated with this method. |
Jim Rosier,
Executive Director
Jim serves as Executive Director of Physical Therapy Plus. He has his Business Administration degree from Murray State University with over 27 years of administrative and marketing experience, of which 17 years are in the health care industry. Jim has served on the MACNY Worker's Compensation Task Force, and currently is a member of the Board of Directors for the Syracuse Executive Association. He is also past president of the Syracuse Executive Association.
Jim is responsible for managing communications with our professional relationships and is involved in our financial administration. He is a key contact for development of programs that offer physical ability testing/ pre-placement screening exams for many local companies.
